Monitoring Control Center (SiteScope Replacement)

PROJECT

Improve the experience and replace the user interface for one of the oldest, most powerful and flexible agent-less monitoring tools in the world. MCC supports over 100 different applications and environments while being localized, and applied in virtually every part of the world.

ROLE

I lead the technical user experience design and research of Monitoring Control Center along side a Phd. director of UX Architecture.

MCC was a multi year project spanning 3 development teams (16 front and back end engineers) across 3 continents, was supported by 2 other German, senior designers, and 2 other South American UI designers. I had the privilege of working with and mentoring the SA UX design team through various screens, critiques, ideation, and design exploration.

I was able to participate, and eventually lead, monthly client demos and design partnership program calls with the director of UX Architecture, lead engineers, product directors, and several high profile clients. This allowed the product team to gather research on production environments, understand limitations, mental models, and view client data, while speaking directly with users and leadership team to gather feedback.

RESULTS

As a team we re-designed over 75 specialized forms and created a unique set of specialized components to update a 10 year old user interface
Improved UI designs, and user experience of 100 total application monitors
Reduced time to value for 15 different monitor creation tasks
Created the first screens to promote observability across all monitors and provider types
Met client and stakeholder expectations through the design partnership program
Retained 100% of participating client accounts
