Nike Global Architecture – One Search

PROJECT

Create flexible, modular, feature-based search concepts that can accommodate a large scale of data-complexity and scale across the Nike enterprise. Enable internal product teams, across disparate verticals, to make economical enhancements that could improve their search experiences without large scale engineering investments.

ROLE

I worked along side the Customer Experience leadership team, as the User Experience Design Lead, in addition to incorporating design feedback from the UX Director of Global Architecture, my local product design team (2 senior designers) and select members of the Technical Experience Product Design Team (TPxD). I provided all the search design concepts and carried them through 3 design iterations, incorporating all feedback from each team. Final solutions were presented to varying teams across the organization in order to gain insight into the how well the solutions could scale to solve for an array of problems and niche user flows including: finding hosted dashboards across various BI products, locating retail product assortments and shipping, Box, Confluence, and locally hosted file sets across private groups and permission structures.

RESULTS

Improved user’s search experience based on a list of unmet expectations, usability issues, and feasibility limitations, while incorporating flexibility for filtering both before and after the query
Flexible Search Solutions that could be incorporated across enterprise production environments with varying degree of engineering resources (modular design enhacnements)
Centralizing and improving search features into an single application that allowed for deploying managing search deployments, retaining best practices, and compliance across all 6 supported regions
Creating a catalyst for discussion of one single intranet based search site for hundreds of indexes across the Nike enterprise (“one search”).
